The challenge:

When most people think “mainframe,” they envision antiquated computers housed in a backroom. As the mainframe’s 50 year anniversary approached, IBM knew it was time to transform the brand and reposition their offering.

The idea:

We developed a progress-focused campaign that let some of IBM’s biggest clients tell their own stories about how the mainframe helped them change their industries and the world. The program was a huge success at shifting perceptions about the platform and positioning it as a breakthrough technology for business.

The idea behind the idea:

Mainframes do the heavy lifting, reliably and economically supporting massive volumes of transactions and workloads. That’s particularly important in banking, government, healthcare, insurance, utilities, and education…all fields necessary for true societal progress.
